Spread My Ashes Where I Learnt to Love

Dragging my feet through the dusts of reminders.

A broken mind, a broken body.

The clouds of ash turn me grey, yet I choose to spin within them.

Let the ashes fill my lungs, make me blind, and turn me mute.

Let them stay.

Settling as paleness across my skin

the ashes leave me cold;

Dragging,

until the heavy breathing sends me floating

above my body.

But let them stay.

There, I hover. Night after night

I hover above myself, becoming my own cloud of rain.

Hovering and pouring.

Clear the air to get one more breath?

But let the ashes stay.

My feelings have become temperatures.

Frozen from my core, I stay slow.

Yet I pour and burn away.

Becoming nothing but a memory.

Burning to ash.
