Someone, Anyone

Masked hands grab
Appearing out of the darkness
Trapping her
Dragging her
Muffling her cries
As she’s taken
From the safety of the light
In to the Dark, skeletal grip
Of the forest

She screams and struggles
Her heart beating hard enough to hurt
As a coarse, growling voice
Tells her she won’t be hurt
If she doesn’t fight

For a split second
She wants to believe
But she knows better
And instead
She screams louder
Kicks harder
And prays that
Someone, anyone
Will hear her
