The Soldiers In Blue

Tue, 11/08/2022 - 10:48 -- smore07

Voices are shouting and fists are pumping like the sound of a heartbeat thumping.

The soldiers in blue could slaughter me too.

Will it be long before we escape this war zone?

My life has been turned upside down before

I had a chance to make it out of town.

The protestors march through the streets like beasts in the night

furiously fighting for their freedom.

The soldiers in blue will continue to slew.

The hot sensations of the bullets piercing through the skin, releasing the atrocious aroma of burning flesh.

My sister Breonna Taylor earned her wings before she could say anything. Death crept through the walls of her castle like a thief in the night.

The world has no clue about black lives when it comes to the soldiers in blue. No matter what you do,

a bullet could flow deep into you.

Before George Floyd shouted, “I can’t breathe”,

Michael Brown cried with his hands up pleading “don’t shoot”. I wonder if the color of my skin will continue to be my sin.

Is it safe for me to navigate the streets without being beat?

I must ask, “Is it Just Us”?

Before the rest of this cruel world can touch us, we must continue to take to the streets demanding for justice, shouting for equality, and marching for our rights!
