So You Sit Down at Your Desk

So you sit down at your desk,

and listen to their breath.

You watch as they all talk,

argue, and laugh.

There’s a teacher at the front,

trying to speak.

She gets a few words in,

a couple of sentences.

She laughs sometimes, too,

with the rest of the class.

But then she quiets them down,

and finishes her lecture.

And somehow,

in spite of finishing the lesson,

the class,

didn’t

get

anything

done.
