Snow Day

Location

As I sleep soundly and enjoy my dream, I am torn from my slumber by the ring of the phone.
I hear heavy footsteps on the stairs and I suddenly feel scared and alone.
As I bury my head deeper into my blanket, my bedroom door slowly opens wide.
Then I hear more footsteps and they stop at my bed, I lift up my head, and see my mother standing by my side.
She tells me that the snow got its way and school is cancelled today and because of that, I may…
Continue to sleep and over the blanket I peep, “Thank you!”  I say, as she walks away.
But the damage is done; all I can think of is fun under the cold winter sun as I plan my day.
