Snow

Midnight December 2008:

Awakened

The cool air filled with emotions

A white blanket covered the dried brown grass

contrasting the humid, damp, scorching heat of Bangladesh

Snow

It fell from the sky onto my small hands for the first time

A frozen flake melting, leaving a small drop of water on my hand

Water

Miles of water, I traveled to become who I am now

         A person

I am a person being subtracted from 164.7 million

and added to the 325.7 million

I am also a snowflake landing on new soil like

an airplane landing on a runway

I land in a new country

to be known as an

       Immigrant
