Smile and Say "Hello"

I fell in love with smiles and ‘hello’s,

Fell harder for the feeling of fingers intertwined with fingers,

And don’t get me started on when they got tangled in hair.

She fell in love with stealing my issues for her own,

With boys with name-changes and no faces.

She fell in love with lies I told as truths,

But she couldn’t bring herself to fall in love with more of me than my lips

And I let her,

Because she was beautiful when I was happy

And gorgeous when I wasn’t.

I lost interest in the star and the way they shine;

My focus shifted to the entire galaxy

Where she couldn’t picture us next to one another,

And I stop trying to make her

Because I saw blue where my heart should be.

I fell out of love with Saturn, who would never accept my ring.

I fell in love again with smiles and ‘hello’s,

Fell harder with every thought of her that came my way.

She scared me, made me feel emotions I pretended not to have,

And she did with a confidence I can only ever envy.

I fell in love with her,

And this time,

She fell in love with me.
