The smile

Location

A famous line from a movie onced went something like "You can't handle the truth".

If I were to tell you the truth,

it'd have to be from a telephone booth.

Somewhere where I couldn't see your face

when I tell you the reason for the smile I wear on my face.

The truth, my friend, is ugly and boring.

If you asked me, its really not worth exlporing!

Very well; If you insist.

Behind this smile is a girl wanting to be missed.

She lies awake for hours,

Thinking of falling from high towers.

She wishes to be thin,

with long hair and tan skin.

In a general sense, she is the product of society.

Worn down and filled with anxiety.

Heaven knows that without this mask,

she wouldn't be able to do a simple task!

Are you able to handle the truth?

Can you beleive me when I say that I'm the ugly side of today's youth?

Beleive me,

I'm sick of myself but I've got no one else.

Its the same thing- this "pain" thing.

That keeps me from sleeping.

And lo, do I wish to do nothing but sleep!

At least I could cease to be and to keep

me from seeing these things that are within me.

So I'm here trying to explain this one thing.

The truth behind this mask- this smile.

It's been this way for a while.

The smiling and the mask.

Its to stop from others wanting to ask,

"what's wrong" or "do you wanna talk"

How could I even start explaining my reasonings when all they is mock?

Don't worry though.

This smile is what get's me through

I'm stronger with it

and so is my spirit.

Now tell me something,

were you able to handle that one thing?
