Sleeping is not an option when you're miles away from home

anxiety crawling at your skin and bones

gnawing through muscle and fat

dulling your nerves

burrowing in your brain

hiding

waiting

aching

going why did you go

staying why are you staying

doing what are you doing

studying away

leaving home

creating a mess

coming back home

come back home

tapping, the subtle pain in my head

cackling,

succumbing.
