Jabberwocky

Slayer

‘Twas nighttime, and the wolf howled

Did Jack and Jill in the house:

All kids were the same,

And the moon shined brightly.

“Beware the Lion, my son!

The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!

Beware the Black bird, and shun

The hairy caterpillar!”

He took his sharp sword in hand;

Long time the viscous foe he sought-

So rested he by the Tumtum tree,

 And stood awhile in thought.

And, as if I thought he stood,

The Lion, with eyes of flame,

Came quickly through the porous wood,

And growled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through

The sharp blade went the scratchy-scratch!

He left it dead, and with its head

He went whimpering back.

“And hast thou slain the Lion?

Come to my arms, my brave boy!

O magical day! Yippy, Yeah!”

He chortled in his joy.

‘Twas nighttime, and the wolf howled

Did Jack and Jill in the house:

All kids were the same,

And the moon shined brightly.
