Slave
Betrayed by one I once gave my trust
I trail behind
Covering my face from the dust
I arrive at the house, but it's not what I thought
For now I'm a slave for men
Yes, that's why I was bought
I outline with black, my eyes and my lips
And with the cloth that I have
I make myself appear to have hips
A wide variety of men and boys
They play, use, and break me like one of their toys
Bruises and scars from my feet to my neck
I flinch from the whip
As each strike leaves me a wreck
I long for my home
Miles and miles away
But the guards outside force me to stay
Sometimes, while I'm asleep in my bed
I dream my best dreams
I dream that I'm dead
But when I wake up, and in my bed I lay
I know I must go on
For I can feed my mom with my pay
A violent knock makes me jump, I'm alert
I listen closely
"They're here to save me!" I blurt
They good guys come in, and a man with a badge and a gun
Waves me forward and out the door
"Come on, girl, run!"
