Pain Knows My Name

Pain knows my name,

You could see the hurt in my eyes.

The only way I know how to cope with the shame,

Is to where a deceitful disguise.

All I want is the freedom to be myself,

And for others to know my worth.

I want to display my heart on a shelf,

But then I remember the hurt.

I could be the bearer of all that is good,

And frolic with those who show up to my dance.

Give everyone more than I should,

If only I were bestowed with the chance.

The ice around my heart deserves to be melted,

For my love is pure and richer than any gold.

But as of late I've been feeling helpless,

Tough times will past, at least that's what I'm told.
