Skiing on Words
Location
Clack, Clack, Clack
Wheels run across the airport tile
Chamonix, France, reads the kiosk
A vehicle transports me to the mountain
Skis and notebook in tow
I am welcomed by a sign "Freeride World Tour"
Swirling is the snow around my head
Swirling are the thoughts inside
As I begin my first assignment and realize this is my office
French Alps today, Rockies tomorrow,
I dont own a bed, or a coffee machine
though the latter would be nice
I am always in a new place, a cold place
Chasing winter, watching skiiers
Documenting their successes and failures
This is how I live, how I make my living,
This is what I love.
I am a ski journalist.
