A Simple Matter
Simple is as simple does, words I feel should line up nicely
Instead of standing as uneven dominoes nobody can line up,
Though these words are not neat in my brain because they
Illuminate the hypocrisy in me for seeking uniformity
When it deserves no bold letters, no uses in any sentence.
Uniforms have second ties that wrap around the heart
Already burdened with labels and struck by slurs
Steaming out of factories built in forests of fear,
The only nature left standing because in it grows
What it seems is true human nature: despising different.
Everything breaks, this even applies to monochrome molds
Manifesting in rainbows belonging neither to mortal nor God,
Just the infinite universe that is our one and only home.
How long will we erect walls and lock doors while laying down
Red tape so we can watch the "others" dance along it,
Laughing when they stumble and cannot find the keys
We promised they would have but never handed out?
When, in the history of words, did the meaning of "human"
Evolve beyond a soul worthy of love, worthy of a chance?
No, that is not evolution, here it is merely a theory displayed
On blackboards against white buildings, two colors marching
Towards the vibrant and shining, it is time to take a stand!
Keep being who you are, for yourself and perhaps one day
A splintered soul who sees your fight and dares to reach
For tweezers, newfound will telling them the plank is worth
Prying out, even if they bleed just like any fantastically flawed human.
I'll feel your blood but never know your pain, knowledge confined
To seeing someone who should never have to struggle alone.
