The air is thick with silence
An empty desk, an empty page
Those ideas filled with promise
Have yet to be displayed

She questions all she knows
And she can’t put it into words
Enjoying noiseless quiet
She lets her mind unfurl

She is one with the silence
As she stares into the night
She’s at a loss for words
Overwhelmed with love of life

In this comfortable, beautiful silence
She finds peaceful solitude
But who would ever understand
Her silent point of view

Quiet, boring, awkward girl
As others like to say
Weird, mysterious, confusing girl
Another common phrase

They don’t care if she’s happy
Just staring at the clouds
They’re in a different galaxy
Looking down, looking down

She wants to be alone
Wishes for them all to leave
They’re changing her friend Silence
Transforming how it feels

What was once her friend
Is now a scarring enemy
But alas, she knows no other way
No other way to be

Silence is her shadow
Both a blessing and a curse
Must she shed the skin of silence
In our judgmental universe
