Shout Out

Silence.
So silent you can hear a pen drop.
Hear the drip-drop of the water faucet,
And the pitter-patter of the cat across the carpet.
The door slams and breaks the silence.
Screaming comes from the room next door.
You want to say something,
Something profound.
Something meaningful,
Able to stop the hands of time.
But,
You don't.
Stand there and take it all in.
You are an observer.
Nothing more.
And that's all you'll ever be.
Unless you shout out.
