Night fades to darkness,

with only the sound of crickets to hear.

Clouds roll over the moon,

creating a moment of fear.

For even in night

does the moon shed its light

allowing us to see our way

as stars shimmer across.

A rustle in the leaves,

the wind moving trees,

it all becomes unfamiliar,

even the gentle breeze.

Our minds shift and turn

making us ache for direction on where to go,

what path to take,

something to remind us our lives are not at stake.

Once the clouds clear,

our path lies before us.

The moon now shimmering with the stars

lying across the dark sky like dust.

Take heed for just because there is no light now

does not mean there won't be any again.

Just have to push on and keep going

until you reach the journey's end.
