This isn't your fault, it's mine,
Waiting for trust to be built by the passing of time.
Being amiable and trusting was my folly.
I was fooled by fake smiles and laughter,
Which taught me not to believe in happy ever after.
Wounded hearts scar permanently,
Repaired by thick walls and isolation. Traveling miles to find the river called Lethe,
Hoping to erase the troubles placed on to me.
But then you came along,
With a heart full of pain and sorrow,
And finally, I found someone I could relate to.
Infatuated by your dark and tenebrous heart,
Blacker than the sky on a moonless night.
And yet, like the stars, I've managed to illuminate your heart, as you did mine.
But still I let you go,
Hopelessly wanting to float amongst the clouds, Yet afraid of falling fast and hard.
So I let this strange thing called love flee. Sometimes the price of security,
Is a person's joviality.
