Shadows In The Abyss

Life at home is like a dark abyss,

Lying awake at night

Staring at the stars.

Every night a knock at the door

As a dark shadow creeps in through the light.

A needle in his hand

A band around his limb.

Unable to think

Unable to act

Unable to reason.

You start my pain,

You make the bruises.

I weep every night,

Scared of you.

One day at school,

A girl came to me

“What happened to your knee”

A bruise was seen

I could not see.

My dark abyss is now exposed

She said to me

“You need to get help”

You must not tell anyone

Not even a peep.

The phone rang,

Ringing for me.

Won’t they see I’m drowning at sea

Wherever I go, he will still be

Following my shadows

In this dark abyss.
