Shadow of the moon

She was young; Not old enough

To be feeling that kind of touch

They taught her never to trust

And she thought that was love

She got to know herself in ways

Most people have never had to

Spending nights staring at the walls

Painted to protect her solitude

Being torn became a side effect of abuse

She doesn't cry like other girls do

Just a dying rose with wilting pedals

If you ever saw her bruised

Obsessed with the idea

Of being loved in return

She created The feeling

And then let it burn

Cause she wasn't lonely,

They'd fall but never learn

To her it wasn't Love

if it Didn't hurt

Addiction comes in many forms

To her, It was brown eyes and poetry

He'd tell her secrets under satellites

It made her cage feel free

This love wasn't tainted it was  Sun kissed

And coated her lungs like cigarettes

She'd wake up in his tee shirt

Hung over, From the feeling of a night without regrets

She kept her secrets to herself

Locked inside through a window

If he only saw her at night

He'd never see her shadow

So she fell in love with the moon

Every night all over

Cause he had a dark side too

And nobody else would hold her
