Shades of Blue

A dolphin's tail moves gracefully through the ocean.
It's chasing after a big blue sailboat and its motion.
Aboard is a saddened man who sings the blues.
Tonight will be his last.
For, he discovered his wife had another life.
He thought her love was true.

Now she's painting a nursery in color for a baby boy.
In walks her new lust holding a brand new toy.
Things go well for a real good while.
Visitors bring in blue pansies in light of the new child.

Weeks go by. The woman begins to look at the sky.
Night after night she quiets the baby's cry
While its father is working countless hours.

Tears begin to fall from her azure eyes like spring showers.
She stayed up late so she could see him,
But at the moment he walked in all was lost between them.
There was a lipstick stain on his blue collar shirt.
The woman finally understood all the pain she caused her ex.
She understood how bad he hurt.

She swaddled her baby in a small blanket and gave him a last kiss.
She hoped he would never have to feel like this.
The blue car door shut and drove off.
The woman stood on the dock and hesitated.. then finally jumped into the deep blue sea.

With her true love she will always be.
They lie beside each other, their bodies shades of blue
When all along the love they shared was so completely true.
