Severing the Roots

I thank you for severing the rootsand leaving me behind.I was told of scars far and wide, but foreign to my bark,on fatherless daughters who can not trust the sons of men just like you;Striking young mothers' faith in  drowning hatred with transparent love. There could never be enough to make you try to change for us. But, I see you etiolating by the hand of hopelessness.Though your raised branch suggests aggression. I cry for your dying leaves.Sorrow and anguish have made you this way.And so I thank you for severing the roots.I now grow strong in a forest by the mountains. And still, you are welcome to rest in my shade.
