Self-Worth In The Form of Indigestion

I sat out behind the house for hours
waiting for something to come home.
It has been days since the wind has blown
and I have ingested the sun to show you
how bright I really am.

But you still don’t believe me.
I have reached for the tree tops
for an escape, but they only provide shade
and solidarity that I am part of them.
My roots go as far as I can see,
lending a hand in the consciousness
of something we have yet to discover

There is so much to be found
in this bottomless pit of question.
And as the sun begins to burn my insides
I asks myself a question,
was proving myself to you really worth all this pain.
