To See Them Smile

I awake and seize the day,

acknowledging the morning rays.

I spend some time with my cat,

after putting on my hat.

I sense the coming chills from the fog,

as I go to hug my loving dog.

I make sure before I go away,

to tell them I'll see them later on that day.

I know that they know I'll be gone for awhile,

but it's always worth it when I see them smile.
