See The Sea

I remember when my  mom looked towards the sea,

My mom told me to let it be,

Don’t go near it’s a danger,

But one night i went closer and met a stranger,

He stood there in the water,

Suddenly the world felt hotter,

My face glowed red as he started to sing,

For once i heard my own heart ring,

Racing chasing trying to reach him,

Like a cat climbing out on a limb,

Soon my mother came down to save me,

The man sang louder and after that i couldn’t believe,

I watched my mother jump right in,

The man sang of drowning her sins,

At once i saw his horrible face,

At once i knew this was a mistake,

With scales and fangs and gills that filled,

With his voice in people he did reel,

I ran straight up back to the house,

And there that morning i then saw my mothers blouse,

Floating in the water but nothing more,

My mother was gone sad to say,

She showed she loved me that very day,

So i grew up and had a daughter,

The very same lesson i had taught her,

We looked towards the sea,

And i said simply,

See the sea? Now let it be!
