See MySelf

I'm hidden
Behind my own imprisoning mask
One I am never able to remove,
Never able to come from behind of
Honestly,
We're all imprisoned
Behind our own unique masks.
None of which are the same
But which are all unfailingly alike in holding us back.
Our attempts to get beyond the mask have worked, but only temporarily
Photos are useful but you're restricted to one moment in time.
Videos are better,
But they're just like photos, simply with a longer moment in time.
Mirrors are the best fight against our masks,
We can look into our own eyes
See ourselves as we are in that particular moment in time
Photos, videos, mirrors
These all help us go beyond our masks,
Yet these are only channels
We can never break through our masks
Society understands this impossibility,
So we embrace them.
We choose to decorate them,
Powders and glosses
Ink and jewels
Surgery and needles
All meant to enhance and alter
We choose to use our control over them,
To project ourselves through them.
We choose to be them.
