Secret Admirer

Perhaps Sappho had a point

Perhaps the point of loving

Is not to be loved forever in return, but

To not be

Forgotten.

I cannot say I do not desire

To have my affections returned,

But I’d settle

To be remembered as long as

You’re happy.

If there were ever a point in which

We could sit under the stars and

Simply talk,

Having fun together,

More than friends…

If it would make you happy I would do it.

But perhaps the point

Of loving

Is not to be loved in return, but to be

Remembered.
