Searching for my worth

I was looking for my worth
Searching fervently
In eyes that stared back
In those that looked away
In dusty mirrors
On every reflecting surface
I looked everywhere
Beyond my eyes and own skin
Beneath words i received
Never underneath mine
Never hearing my own self
My own worth i forgot
neath everything heaped over it
A pile i often stand on
To peep over my fences
Searching for it
