The Scent of Rain

As long as I still enjoy the scent of rain

As long as my mother’s warm arms hold me

As long as bread still perfumes the air

And the stars light my soul

I have reason to live,

As long as flowers bring a smile

As long as I love, however few

As long as sleep brings peace

I desire to continue,

As long as music still resonates

As long as anime still makes me laugh

As long as words still flow with beauty

I have reason to live,

Though at times shallow

At times hollow

At times aching with heart breaking cold

I shall continue

Though the new day brings no hope

For perhaps next month, or next year

I shall find more people to call mine

Shall develop motivation

Shall be determined in my purpose

Yes, I will hold for that day

Though it has not come

And now, yes now,

I will lift my face

To the scent of rain.
