The Sand Dunes of Paradise

Location

Not a rock will be found

In the sands of the heartland

Bunches of grass will twist and bend

In the whipping of the wind

Cattle low in the shallow valleys

Antelope run through the flats

Deer hide in the groves of trees

And together the play in this sandy land

As the sun sets over the hills

Red, orange, and yellow hues

Reflect against the smooth crests

Of the sand dunes in this paradise

Windmills creak and moan

Trees whisper to each other at night

Owls carry on with their nightly chatter

Stars shine brightly down to light the way

There is not much for shade

From the blazing summer sun

There is not much protection

From the harsh and long winters

But to survive out in this hell

Appreciation must be shown

For dreams to come true out there

In this land of sand dunes
