Sackcloth and ashes

2 Corinthians 7:10

10 For sadness as intended by God produces a repentance that leads to salvation,

leaving no regret, but worldly sadness brings about death.

 Sackcloth and ashes

Repent! Repent! A simple verse

Everlasting appears through it

But how, without being lead

or without grief to prove it?

I’m so sorry. I feel so bad

Is this called repentance?

Being caught is not being lead

and sorry is not the evidence

How can I sin and feel at peace

and smile upon my weakness?

When I kill someone in my thoughts

and appear like one in meekness

This rotten “me” walks hand in hand

with the “me”, who is the better

It seems to have the upper hand

and pulverize the latter

It takes God to get me there

to where repentance rules

But I do my very best

to stay where I’m the fool
