Runza

The sweat drips from Mama’s brow

Peering into the dark oven I watch her set heaven

The fluffy yeast rises like a cloud

The simmering cheese blisters in the heat

And the yummy hamburger fills my nose

We glance at each other and smile

Nothing is more perfect

Priceless memories of my childhood overwhelm me

Sitting in the next room, is the family I have been blessed with

Grammy, Dad, and my little brother

We share old family stories that make us giggle

Listening, laughing, loving, reminiscing

The comfort of remembrance gives us warmth

Then Mama walks in with her famous runzas and at once we are fulfilled

Everyone takes a small bite savoring the scrumptious taste

Swallowing the creamy goodness,

We glance at each other and smile
