Run

If the devil knew what I'd done he wouldnt have me

But the angels sang their song and tried to save me.

But God said "I don't want you here

'Cause I've seen how you corrupt what's pure and clear."

He said "stay away from my kingdom, my perfect creation

I gave you a chance but you slandered my name

Now the world's turned against me

And all of Hell has been set free."

Back to back the devil fell

Against the wind and back to Hell

He shook me off his back and I fell

Into everything that I had wrecked

I found the ocean of the world that I created

It was dark and deep and desolate

With nothing left to show for it

No life, no light, no height, no sight

'Cause they thought that I had won the fight.

But they did not know

That everything I had worked for

Had ended in rejection

From the lowest of lows to the highest of highs.

On the floor in the middle of the night

I looked into my eyes

And I saw myself when I was good and bright

And I asked myself how I let that evil

Grow into a garden, to a forest, to a world.

I looked into those innocent

And not yet tarnished eyes

Of a child filled with light and life

And I said "run."
