the road that changed me

The path was smooth when I began

A world of sunlight in my hands

But soon the skies began to weep

And shadows crawled where dreams once leaped

The winds grew fierce; they called my name

Each step I took was not the same

The roads I gave my all to split in two

Doubt became my only view

I stumbled where the thorns had grown

The echoes told me I was alone

Yet in the dark, I found my spark

A strength I never knew to mark

The stones I tripped on taught me grace

Each scar was a map of what I’ve faced

The road that bent, the tears that fell

Became the story I now tell

For every turn and every break

A new resolve began to awake

And though the journey still goes on

The roads have shaped the me I’ve drawn

So here I stand, the past behind

A heart rebuilt a clearer mind -

The road that changed me wasn’t kind

But it is the reason I shine
