Rivers

Old Daddy D said,

Our people love the rivers

Told me the moving blue

Runs through our souls and veins

Old Daddy D said,

The rivers makes way for our tears

Told me if it weren’t for them

We’d have drowned in our own despair

Old Daddy D said,

Our freedom tunes bounced along the currents

Told me we named the blues

From the big blue Mississippi

Old Daddy D said,

The rivers gave birth to us

Told me before we rode lamas amongst the Sahara

We swam with fierce crocs on the Nile
