The Walls Around Us
We all build walls around us
to keep some in, and some out
but really, why make such a fuss
We’re all one I want to shout
Borders are mere constructs
That nature does not abide
Imagined lines to avoid flux
To cross one, oh woe betide
If we cannot love our neighbour
How can we possibly love ourselves?
We will all one day share God’s acre
Or become dust upon the shelves
Must we again sound the Shofar
To tumble down these age-old walls
Common sense must take over
To live and love in peace, after all
This poem is about:
Our world
