At Rest

Lying down

“Get up, Get up” I say

But, still, I stay

I lift myself, yet

Always a step away

A blank strip of paper

“create, create”

and I try

It’s getting to be too much

Long nights and

Pencils sharp

A metal bench

“Walk away,” I cry

Glue sticks my soles

Everything stays

Stills

“It gets better”

shut up and help me

Indents on my thighs

I’ve been too long

I can’t move

“I believe in you”

but I don’t try

I believe Newton

And I am

An object

At rest
