Response to the Raven

As dark as night has ever been
As harsh as winter's winds descend
And echoe their time told tale
Of life and your supposed fail
Nevermore! Nevermore! Quoth that dark raven for Lenore
Nevermore! Nevermore! A lie filled with guile and horror
Your problems are unsolvable
Your woes, so insurmountable
Nevermore! Nevermore! In misery your life reborn
Or so it calls, that wicked feathery thing
Which flies at night into your saddest dreams
Which taps so faintly while you ponder things of old
Then comes and perches on a statue so immovable
With a heart of contempt so entirely reproachable
The cry, a fable, cannot be believed
It comes only to wound the broken heart
It comes to aid the bleeding and stop your pain receding
With a lying blade it stabs at that most tender part
Your ache is not unending
Swiftly it can be rescinding
So when you next are pondering o'er curious, forgotten lore
And you hear that soft tapping, a quiet gentle rapping
Tis a visitor and nothing more
Ignore it, do not open up your door
