Redemption
Redemption is a song,
that rights every wrong,
Its the giving of forgiveness,
even when an attack leaves you listless.
Its what we all do not deserve,
and part of what we all sometimes think we have the right to reserve,
Its the heart of God for His creation,
All across the expanse of each and every nation.
It speaks the truth, and does not overlook the sin,
but sees it, and looks at the sinner, and desires to begin again.
Our redemption came in the form of a cross,
a punishment, where it was God who suffered the greatest loss.
Jesus died, to take the penalty we deserved,
Offering us the forgiveness, that in relation to each other, we wont even speak the word.
He died bearing our sin and our shame,
giving hope to all those who suffer, the blind, deaf, and lame.
Our Lord was crucified, so that from the bondage of sin, we might be set free,
yet to this day, most of the time what consumes our mind is the all general, yet wholly personal - me.
He endured the wrath of His father, when He didnt have to bother,
He broke down the wall, erasing the stain with which we'd been drenched ever since the Fall.
And then when it seemed as though all hope was lost, that the punishment for our sin, even for Him, was too great a cost,
The third day came and He rose from the grave, commissioning His followers to tell the world that by His wounds, they could be saved.
He defeated the power of death and of Hell, and brought us up out of darkness, that terrible well.
He overcame it all so we might be free, overcame it, so we could be in relationship with Him - yes you and me.
He overcame it all, yes even the worst, so that in everything, in our very lives, we might put Him first.
He died not to make bad people good, but to make sinners holy, is that understood?
Jesus endured it all, so in Him we could find salvation from Hell,
He says "Just call", and believe me, He'll answer. I know it well.
He came to die so you might be saved - don't you know that your punishment's been waived?
He died on a tree, to set sinners free. He suffered both pain and strife, so we might be given new life.
Knowing these things, and that it is on these, that your eternity hangs,
why is it that you continue to stall? Why dont you cry out - give Him that call.
