Redeem

Redeeming the past is a difficult task

Especially when slipping it under the skin is easier to mask

and along the way expressions continue to invade

the strings of tension that appear from each mistake

You continue to live, running away from the shadows

of those in your childhood that caused the rotting of your marrow

but how much longer can you stride

with your head tall and dreams turning withered and dried

FIGHT, I say

EXPRESS, I spew

Don't let the others judge you to no longer be you

Pick up your shield and sword and prepare for battle

You have lost enough, its your turn to deem what matters

Show them the dreams of an artist,

the views of a visionary going blind

Give them the words of a poet

the whispers of the unspoken mind

Recall the dangers of your world

that can turn to wonders on a dime

And don't let them push you aside again

which has happened over and over like a rhyme

Charge against their words, and let yourself be heard

You're extraordinary, don't ever silence another word.
