Ready

The glow of lights flicker through the curtains

And I blink...staring into the sudden brightness.

Images of my mom, my younger brother, my aunt, and so much more...

flicker in and out of sight

and I think back to the promises I made to myself

as each  memory pushes me up to get out and ready.

Splashing water on my face, the excess drops drip and fall,

leftover dreams that bubble and crash at reality.

Ready to learn and experience. Ready to start all over and try, try, again. Ready to make a change.

Ready, Ready, Ready...

To laugh and smile at each failure,

To pick up myself when I fall,

To make the world a little happier, cleaner, better,

And leave my mark in the world.
