I know it’s there.
Dancing at the edge of my consciousness
Playing hide-n-seek with my mind’s eye
Weaving through the realm of my subconscious.
I know it’s there.
Playing Marco-Polo with my muse.
Hiding in the smoky haze of memory.
Hitching a ride on a wisp of thought.
Whirling by on a strain of music.
Peering at me shyly from behind
The knee of a feeling.
Peeking from the back curtain of a moment.
I know it’s there.
Staring at me from the attic window of an abandoned house.
All lights off.
Only a silhouette.
There and then not.
Forgotten as abruptly as remembered.
