John 4:24       New English Translation

24 God is spirit, and the people who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

 

Purpose 1

 

The arrow of Salvation is aimed at our will

The gospel facilitates the union of God’s Will and mine

As noble as my spirit might be, it must yield to His Will

For the spirit brings communion between God’s Spirit and mine

 

The Will embodies man’s attention and his authentic attitude

It clearly shows his condition and amplifies his being

By his will, he is known in character and as a person

His personality and example, his witness in his pleading

 

Union with God is all in Christ, the union of life the first one

It starts at regeneration when we receive His Life

And as He lives by His Spirit and the Holy Spirit in mine

We share our life with God the way, designed by God in Christ

 

Union of the second external now it seems

To be joined with Christ in will denotes we have one will with Him

He destroys the life of the soul, but not the soul’s function

He just renews every part of it, so our new life is born in Him

 

Can Salvation be incomplete when man’s will is not entirely

United with the Will of God, Who gave Himself for man?

For that common denominator that underlies all our sin

Is following our own will and in such be separated again
