Puddle Pondering

The rain fell into the puddles like stars
Winking in and out of existence
Between nebulas of concrete,

The sun was shining and
the water was yellow.

There was thrumming interference in the air,
Much as snow on an analog t.v.,
Which made the world outside her window
Look like an archaic film.

Bubbles lingered on the puddles,
Like planets suspended in the muddy space-time,
Slightly longer than the frantically flickering stars.

Ripples acted as the planets’ rings,
Fluttering out into the rest of that lonely plasmic void,
Those gardening waters of light,
Her favorite sight…

She twiddled her hair and watched,
And the rain continued,
Came down from the sky,
Just in sprinkling time,
For the longest time.
