Promising Lies, but I thank you
I signed my soul to a compromise
that really took its toll.
She is a siren that I mistakenly grew close to her
chilling cries,
She said she regrets leaving me behind,
In another life,
She would be my girl,
And I was the one that got away.
She said.
Acting like her Super-Man,
heeding in words like "moving in"
"125th & below"
hearts in the form of pac-man, 3
kissing within the lush trees of my playground,
My valuable time dies as my ignorance grows
Reality hit me in the face when she is locked in
the arms of another shallow victim.
Is it because he treats you like a knight in silvery armour?
Is it because I took the joke too seriously?
Is it because I forgot to be a gentleman and instead I was
being myself this whole time?
Am I cursed to never fall for another?
No,
There is no reason to make mountains out of questions,
There is no reason to burn holes in my mind,
There is no reason to pull the noose tighter and tighter
No longer the man that you want,
No longer the woman I needed, 30 days passed by,
I am finally happy when it became easier to let go,
something that should've been done a long time ago,
I am free to make my own endeavors,
I a liberated from being used, but carry an urge to be need
by someone else.
I thank you for the times we had,
I wont regret, I can't help you're messed up too,
While I am loving my life by the minute,
loving it as much as I love myself now,
proving I don't need you.
Loving it, till my unexpected comes back to me.

One of my favorite lines from this is "Is it because I forgot to be a gentleman and instead I was/ being myself this whole time." It really highlights the danger of not being oneself--when people grow accustomed to our masks, we are shunned when we simply act as we are. A good point to bring out in a poem about a broken relationship.
