A Promise Broken

A promise broken is a heart crushed and dying Waiting for the day it'll be rid of the lying Patiently awaiting the day it'll be free at last When at last it'll be able to beat free and fast Frozen blue blood rushes through my veinsEverywhere is racked with excruciating painsBruises and scrapes litter my decaying heartIn vain it tries to keep from falling apart But it can never be completely ever fully healedOf the effects of the battle that was fought with no shieldDuring that battle I let it all goAll my emotions were put out for showNot a single feeling did I hideHuh, I couldn't hide them if I tried I naively bared it all for you to seeI thought that's what you wanted from meApparently I was so terribly wrongYou gave me an answer that didn't take long I should've obeyed the warnings and noticed the signsAnd questioned your words that had no reason or rhymeI should have seen through your lies much soonerInstead of being a sentimental crooner Blind, unrequited love is a messy affairIt never ends well for the one who caresIf ones not careful, a heart can be broken into piecesThat'll never be fixed, no matter the adhesive Sometimes things can never ever be repairedLove is something that's best when sharedIf I give you the power, and you reject meCracked corners and dents is all you'll see because... A promise broken is a heart crushed and dyingWaiting for the day it'll be rid of the lyingPatiently awaiting the day it'll be free at lastWhen at last it'll be able to beat free and fast
