Prometheus

Legend says Prometheus Brought fire to man
Stolen from the heavens
Prometheus's love for man
But that is only a myth

I have a fire, burning in my chest
Enkindled by my Prometheus
Tended by her love
And stoked by her affection
But the heavens look upon her fondly

But like a greek hero of old
My love is ill fated
I wish to come home to her
But the monsters in the way prove challenging
And I must walk this path alone

But the prize at the end
Is worth enduring more
And I will endure for her
For my flame still burns
And my dreams of wax
Melt before her true beauty

But with every moment
Spent without her
My flame burns softer
But it is never extinguished

And her gift of fire
Gives warmth to my veins
It brings joy to my life
It brings purpose to my existance

Every time the flame flickers
I feel the cold rushing in
The bleakness of a life without her

My love is my lifeline
And she is my love
My Prometheus is everything
And my flame is hers
