The problem with America
Why is America so glum, you may ask? There is a simple answer: inequality.
From wealth to civil rights, there is much of it.
Starting with wealth; the top one percent bring in 24 percent of income brought in in the U.S.
You may not see that as bad, but they also own 50 percent of stocks, bonds, and mutual funds.
Along with 40 percent of the total wealth of the United States.
On the flip side, the poor are having a really tough time.
It is definitely a fact that the rich man thrives when there are many poor people.
There are 47 million some in poverty, and 46 million some taking food stamps,
But there are only 19 million some people actually unemployed.
Plenty of these possibly have rich spouses or other reasons why they might not need a job,
But to give you a bit better idea of how many poor people are employed, nine million some are actually unemployed.
These facts would cause you to infer that a large majority of federal poverty assistance recipients are employed.
I've read that 91 percent of federal poverty assistance recipients are elderly, disabled, or employed.
That shows you how bad the working poor are being treated.
Why doesn't anyone stand up for this cause? It seems like anyone will defend the people on the top, but very seldom will they defend the people on the bottom, at least where I'm from.
I view inequality along with apathy and reluctance to accept facts like these that shine a positive light on the poor as a huge problem with the United States.
Along with these problems, there are many reasons that employees are fired, including because they aren't white, and because they aren't men, straight, or the ideal employee and the boss just wants someone to beat on. Disabled people are also treated badly.
Along with this there seems to be segregation in some places where there shouldn't be.
Any group can be oppressed in an area where they are the minority.
If you are a denier of what I have written about, look it up. If you type it into Google, you will find that it is absolutely true.
This is a huge problem, and we need the entire country on board to try to solve it.
The minimum wage for a waiter/waitress is a little over two dollars an hour, and that's a good place to start helping people if you choose to do something about this.
If all these things were solved, the United States would be a much better country in everyone's opinion, even if people are oblivious to these truths.
Please take these things to heart, and do whatever you can about them.
