Prison of waves
I sit here not idle and still,
but move quickly, swiftly,
held against my will
in a prison of waves.
There are plenty of other fish in the sea,
yet I swim alone.
Chain me, throw me, lock me in a cage.
Beat me down,
destroy my rage.
For the difference here between joy and pain
is no larger than a tear drop.
I see them everywhere, running free.
Outside the ocean,
Why Can't That Be Me?
Every step I take towards the life that awaits,
They push me further away.
Understand me, they don't.
Join me, they can't.
Save me, they won't.
Fear more potent than poison
haunts the ignorant mind.
And so in a prison of waves I remain,
never knowing what's next,
only certain there's pain.
There are plenty of other fish in the sea,
yet I swim alone.
