Pretends

Glancing out the window there,

Time passes by without a care.

Watch the plain white walls and crowded rooms,

Nowhere to go and nothing to do.

Wander aimlessly through the halls,

Snap to attention when the doctor calls.

Smile and answer with your lies again,

An entire world where everyone pretends.

The world blurrs together, time falls apart.

There is no end and no longer a start.

A better actor with a real life stage,

Fills the pointless roles that society made.

The 'sanity' of normal you don't quite get,

Slipping between places you don't really fit.

In and out you go again,

An entire world where everyone pretends.

Time stops moving inside your head,

You join the ranks of the living dead.

Watching the world though you're not really there,

As into nothing you begin to stare.

A few ask if you're alright,

You'll smile and laugh as you say, "Just fine."

In you go but not out again,

An entire world where everyone pretends.
